PHILOSOPHYThe concept of fitness has been made out to be very confusing in the last decade. I try and keep things simple because in reality when you get down to the roots of exercising it's not complex at all. The old saying "use it or lose it" sums it up best. Our body needs to move in order to keep all its systems working properly. Think of a car; if you let your car sit for a year or two and then start it up it's not going to run very well. The human body acts the same way, by moving we allow the body to take in nutrients and expel toxins, cleaning out the pipes so to speak. I incorporate synergistic movements (movements using multiple muscles and joints in unison) into all my training sessions to maximize the amount of energy expended per unit of time. The added benefit to this form of training is that these movement patterns mimic the same demands placed on your body in everyday life activities. I train you to use multiple muscles at a time which will not only burn more calories, but it will also increase your coordination and balance substantially. The initial focus is on strengthening your trunk muscles more commonly referred to as "core" muscles. This area is composed of your abdominals (internal/external obliques, rectus abdominus, transverse abdominus), lower back, hips, and shoulder blades. These muscles form the basis for any movement of the body. For Example; if you reach to grab a glass of water you might think you are using your arm and shoulder to perform this movement which is true BUT, before those muscles begin to move your core muscles must contract and engage to stabilize your body and prepare it to move. The better your body is at stabilizing itself the more strength you will have in anything you do. The problem with desk jobs that the majority of us have is that they promote a slouched (back curved, shoulders rounded forward, neck extend forward) posture. Sitting is this manner over time actually deactivates the core muscles leading to the same slouched posture when you are standing and moving around. I help you achieve a greater level of fitness by exercising your body efficiently and by performing movements that are applicable to your everyday life. You will feel better, you will have improved posture, and the inches will disappear in favor of lean firm tissue.
